When to Consider Injections for Chronic Pain
Do you suffer from chronic pain? Sometimes a consistent routine of proper diet, exercise, and conditioning can help relieve chronic pain symptoms. Other times you need a little extra help. If you are suffering from chronic, debilitating pain that just won’t go away no matter what you do, you might be a candidate for injections. At the Pain Management Center of Houston, we offer three types of injections to ease your chronic pain.
Epidural Steroid Injections
Epidural steroid injections are inserted into the epidural space in the spine. This is the fat-filled area between the bone and protective sac of the spinal nerve. This treatment can ease chronic pain in the neck, arms, back, and legs.
Facet Joint Injections
Facet joint injections treat inflammation in the facet joints, which are the joints between each vertebrae in the neck and along the spine. Facet joint inflammation is a common cause of lower back pain.
Sacroiliac Joint Injection
A sacroiliac joint injection can treat lower back and leg pain. This injection aims to treat inflammation in the sacroiliac joint which is between the sacrum and illium bones of the pelvis.
When to Consider Injections
- Diet, exercise, and other lifestyle changes have not helped.
- You want a treatment less invasive than surgery.
- Your chronic pain condition has lasted 6 months or longer
